Mirror Fantasy Football / You The Manager Review

The Daily Mirror’s You The Manager is now one of the UK’s most established Fantasy Football game and offers an attractive £70,000 prize for the manager lucky enough to guide their team to first place. Typically the Mirror game has favoured multi-team managers who prefer playing for the big cash prizes rather than a more involved ‘hands on’ squad based game.

Every Fantasy Football manager has £60m to assemble a team of 11 players in a 4-3-3 formation. Along with the Sun Dream Team game, the player values vary quite dramatically meaning a mixture of expensive big hitters and bargain players are often required to be selected.

After a £5 entry fee, Mirror has decided that all entrants will be required to pay for every transfer at a cost of £50p, which relates to £15 if the full 30 transfers are made over the course of the season.  In addition, the Mirror offers a pre-paid package for £3, which is often the way to go for all serious contenders.

Like several other Fantasy Football games including the Mail Online Version, The Mirror has opted to award points for both the Premier League and FA Cup meaning the last point scoring opportunity is the FA Cup Final in May, which in my opinion is a great way to end the season.

Points are awarded when players meet certain criteria such as scoring a goal or keeping a clean sheet (goalkeepers and defenders only). The below table shows the Mirror Fantasy Football points system. Similar to the Sun, the points system favours high scoring defenders and midfielder, meaning Fantasy Football managers are left with many selection decisions.
